It had been a few days since Chrysanthemum and Prowl had found their way to RiverClan. They were the first cats to search for RiverClan out of their own accord, so their arrival had been a fairly big deal! Flare had done his best to integrate them smoothly into the patrol rotation, but it was difficult when he didn't know the cats themselves. They were decent enough hunters, and Prowl especially was a good fighter, but he didn't know them personally!
So he was on a mission, self-imposed though it was. The sun was setting, and soon the Clan would gather for it's evening meal. Flare kept an eye out for a specific pelt in particular, and brightened considerably when he saw the cat he wanted in question. "Chrysanthemum! Over here!" he meowed loudly, waving his paws for her attention. The goal was to be endearingly goofy, something he'd been told by multiple cats he'd met in the past he did without even trying. "I wanna talk to you! Grab something to eat and then plop down."
He smiled, wide and friendly, and gestured with his head toward her side. An invitation, yes, but one he won't force if she'd already had plans to eat with somebody.
Zesha hope this is a good starter for them!

chrysanthemum • she/her • 31 moons • loner • bioFlower Moon, Day 12. Sunset. Riley Chrysanthemum had just returned from trying to learn to fish. She was starting to get the hang of it, but still hadn’t managed to hook one onto the shore. She had gotten a claw in one but it had wiggled free and fell right back in the water. Far from being discouraged, though, she felt that it meant next time she would be able to successfully fling it on the shore and take a bite out of it. A smile lit her face as she thought about it. Suddenly a voice caught her attention, and she turned to see Flare waving his paws at her. She stifled a giggle. He looked absolutely adorable. “Okay!” she called, trotting over to the fresk-kill pile and selecting a mouse that someone had caught earlier. She carried it over to Flare and set it down at her paws, then settled down with her paws tucked under her next to him. She flashed him a warm smile. “So, what did you want to talk to me about? Oh, and you can just call me Chrys. Chrysanthemum gets to be a mouthful after a while,” she said with a laugh. Even her own parents took to calling her Chrys after a while.

The smile he received after catching her attention was sunny, and Flare knew he'd succeeded. He waited until she'd joined him before settling down, laying with his front paws stretched out and his back paws equally splayed behind him. He had no fresh-kill for himself, but he'd grab something after their conversation.
Flare grinned at her and nodded at her correction of her name. "Chrys it is!" he meowed chirpily. He did, however, tone down the cheeriness for his next comment. "And honestly, I just wanted to check in. I know it's a big change, going from being alone to being in a Clan."
He finally pulled his legs back to himself, laying in a slightly more dignified way. He curled his front paws near his chest and pulled his back legs up to his sides, sweeping his tail to the side closest to Chrys, before giving Chrys his full attention. "How are you doing?"

chrysanthemum • she/her • 31 moons • loner • bioFlower Moon, Day 12. Sunset. Riley Chrys had to try her best not to giggle at the silly way that Flare decided to lay. She didn’t think she had ever seen a cat lay with their legs sprawled out like that before. It didn’t look uncomfortable, though. She thought she might have to try it at some time or another, to see if it was as comfy as it looked. She nodded at his words. It had been different, being in a Clan. There were now cats that she slept next to, and patrols to go on, and others she had to watch out for. It was similar to how things had been when she was still with her family, only these cats she had no relation to. “Honestly, I think I’m doing alright,” she said. “It reminds me of when I was younger and lived with my parents and siblings. We took care of each other, and the Clan takes care of its own. It’s been… nice, to say the least. It had gotten a bit lonely on my own.”

Chrys wasn't entirely successful in stifling her giggles, and Flare grinned. He'd been hoping his silliness would put her more at ease with the discussion he wanted. Being goofy made it obvious this was a casual check-in, not an official one.
He listened to Chrys speak about her experiences in the Clan, and his smile lightened from playful to genuine. "I'm glad to hear it. I know it took a while for my dad, Jay, to adjust to having more cats to look after. Though to be fair to him, he had longer to adjust to being alone than you and I did, old coot that he is."
Flare laughed lightly at his own joke before growing serious. "Clans are supposed to be like families. Or rather, they're what families are supposed to be like. Feeding each other and protecting each other and keeping each other happy. So if there's something we can do to make the adjustment easier, let me know."
He gave her a moment to let that sink in before adjusting his weight and continuing. "And now that that's over with! Tell me how your day went!"

chrysanthemum • she/her • 31 moons • loner • bio Of the RiverClan cats, Chrys felt most at ease around Flare and Noctus. They had always been friendly, and while Shellspots wasn’t exactly rude, she seemed more reserved than the two toms. They were simply easier to get along with, she felt. She laughed. “Oh, I’m sure he’s not that old,” she said. If he was, Jay didn’t show his age. From what she had seen, he was able to hunt as well as any of them. She hadn’t seen his fighting skills yet, but she was sure he was formidable. Perhaps she would ask him to spar with her later so she could see for herself. “I think the adjustment will come with time,” she purred. “You’ve all already been very welcoming. To think, I’d have never met you all if my mother didn’t get pregnant again and have to kick us out. I was a bit upset about that at first, but now that I’ve met the Clan, I have to say I’m rather glad for the adventure.”“My day? Oh, it’s been quite nice so far. One of the others was trying to teach me to fish just earlier, actually. I’m still trying to get the hang of it, though. The fish are so fast! You have to be quick as lightning to grab them.”

Flare's whiskers twitched in amusement as Chrys defended Jay's age. He cast another glance around the camp, just to make sure his father wasn't within ear shot before leaning closer and whispering, "Old enough for his muzzle to start graying." He winked for good measure before settling back into his previous position. "If you ask him though I'd just say it's how much stress I put him through growing up."The mention of Chrys's mother having had kits and therefore kicked her out had him frown slightly. "Yeah, I guess I got lucky in that regard. When Violet got pregnant with my siblings we just expanded the den to fit all of us. If they HAD told me to leave, I would have, but I'd also probably have just settled nearby so not much would be different…"He mused on that for a moment before realizing Chrys had said something else about fishing. "I'm gonna be honest Chrys, I've kind of lost my taste for fish. I used to love it when it was a novelty. Now it's something I eat every day so it's kind of lost that specialness to it. Give me a squirrel or a bird and I'm a happy Flare."Zesha

chrysanthemum • she/her • 31 moons • loner • bio Chrys’ whiskers twitched in amusement. “I’m sure he would,” she mewed. “My father used to tell us how much of a pawful we were growing up and that we were why his whiskers were white. We later found out they were just always white.” She shook her head, smiling. Parents were interesting, that was for sure. They always seemed to have some tall tale to spin. “The park was small,” she said softly. “And we found places of our own to go. I think we all found where we would be happiest. Tulip with her twolegs, Hyacinth with Penny, and me here in RiverClan.” Chrys flashed him a smile to show she wasn’t sad about her family’s departure, even though in her heart she still missed them fiercely. “Oh?” she said, curling her tail around her legs. “I suppose it’ll be the same for me once I’ve gotten used to them. Fish was never in my diet before. I’m more used to catching birds or mice. I think I’d try anything at least once, though. Just to give it a try, you know?”
