So you’re looking to create a character? That’s great! We’re always happy to have new cats to thread with ^_^ Before we get to the actual form, here’s a few things to be aware of first.
That should be everything, so here’s the form! You’re welcome to add on extras if you so desire, but please keep this general format and fill in all of the requisites first. Plain text is preferred, but if using a bio template please make sure it's clear and easy to read.
Name: Your character’s current name goes here. Feel free to include any nicknames or aliases they go by, but they should have one primary name.
Desired Name: This is the warrior name you’d like your cat to have, if they don't have one already. It should be a warrior name, so the suffixes -kit, -paw, and -star are not allowed here. If you’re not planning on having your cat join a Clan or would like the Clan leader to choose their name, you can leave this blank.
Allegiance: This is the group your cat belongs to. Currently only solitary cats can be created directly into the game, and all others must be joined in-character. This only covers officially recognized groups, so for informal groups your cat will still be considered Solitary.
Rank: This is your character’s position within their group. This is only applicable to Clan cats and members of other official groups, so if your cat is a solitary you should leave this blank.
Age: Your character’s age, listed in moons. Cats being created into the game must be at least 3 moons, and can be no older than 60 moons.
Birth Moon: The moon and year that your cat was born. This is used to integrate your character into the Timeline, and can be a bit tricky. Here's a fun spreadsheet to help with this step!
Sex: This refers to the physical sex of your cat and, due to the way we handle genetics, must be one of four options: a tom (un-neutered male), a queen (un-spayed female), a gib (neutered male), or a molly (spayed female). If your cat’s gender does not match their sex (ie. trans or non-binary) you’re welcome to list that here as well.
Appearance: This is where you describe your character’s appearance in detail. This information is used when creating your cat’s genotype, so please be as specific as you can! Pictures are welcome here too, as long as they're realistic.
Personality: Give a summary of what your character is like. How they view the world, what they like and dislike, and how they act in general are all good things for this section. Try to avoid stating what other cats think of them directly since that takes away the opportunity for other characters to form their own opinions.
History: Here you should give a summary of any important events in your character’s life and tell us how they came to be where they are now. What are the defining events that have shaped your character so far? This should be an overview, so please do your best to keep it at or under roughly 750 words as a soft limit.
If your cat has any family within the game, you’re also required to use the following format to list them. If the character has no family, you do not need to include the following if you do not wish to do so.
Mother:
Name (linked to character sheet if applicable), status (alive, deceased, or unknown), etc.
Father:
Name, status, etc.
Full Siblings:
Name, status, etc. for each sibling.
*Maternal Siblings:
Name, status, etc. for each sibling.
*Paternal Siblings:
Name, status, etc. for each sibling.
Offspring:
Name, status, etc. for each kit.
*These sections only need to be included if there are actually cats that fall under the given category. If your character has no half-siblings, you can leave these off of their bio entirely if you’d like to.
Here is an empty form with the formatting if you'd like to use it!
You’re welcome to look through our already accepted applications for examples if you like, and if there’s anything at all you need help with you can always message a staff member, ask on the help boards, or even pop into the chat box!
- There is no character limit, but staff reserve the right to decline applications if it seems like an unnecessary number of characters is being made.
- If you’d like some in-character ties right from the get go, be sure to check out our Character Relations board. Many players create family or friends for their existing characters and look for someone to play them there. It’s exactly the same process as creating a cat from scratch, aside from being given a few basic details to work with. The rest all comes from you!
- Once you’re finished with your application, make sure to link it in a reply to the Check Request Thread so staff know it's ready to be checked. Character applications are checked weekly on Fridays, or as additional time allows. If your application has been sitting for more than a week without being checked, please message Kaeldra to let her know!
- Incomplete applications that have not been edited in over two weeks will be archived. If you’d like to resume working on the application, message any staff member and they’ll move it back for you. Alternatively, you can also ask a staff member to delete it should you no longer want to work on the character.
