Personality
General: Chrys is an amiable cat that gives off an aura of positivity and is usually viewed as a cat that can be easily approached. She’s usually in a cheerful mood, or at least she seems to be. Over time she’s come to learn how to hide her true emotions so that others only see what she wants them to see, even when she desperately wants to tell someone else about her problems. She avoids doing that unless she’s incredibly close to the cat, however, as she finds it hard to trust others with her feelings. Despite her own deep seated issues, she’s a caring feline that will do her best to help anyone in need.
She is rather effeminate and is often seen enjoying things that are seen as “for she-cats” such as enjoying flowers, looking after kits, walking in a way that makes her seem delicate, and other things. Though she has not yet had kits herself, she has a strong maternal instinct for all cats, no matter how old they are. This annoys some, but for others it’s just what they need. And while some cats still think the whole LGBT+ thing is a bit weird, she’s progressive enough that she just smiles and accepts the cat for who they are.
While it make not seem like it, some have found her difficult to get along with due to the fact she has a habit of pointing out things that they shouldn’t do. No, you really shouldn’t go bother the massive dog in that yard even though it’s chained up. She’s basically the voice of reason, and not everyone wants to hear that. No matter how many times someone tries to get her to do something dangerous or stupid, she remains stubborn and says no. Deep down though, she’s insecure and feels that she’s not helping the world at all, even though it’s the one thing she wishes to do the most.

History
Chrys was born in a litter of three with her brother Hyacinth and her sister Tulip. Her mother loved them all dearly, though the streets of twolegplace were not always a good place for a mother and her growing kits. Luckily their father, Zinc, decided to stick around and help out with hunting and watching over the kits so that Lillium could go out and stretch her legs, and get away from the three hungry mouths she had to feed. Even a mother needs time away from her children, so that she may refresh herself and not resent those she cares for.
At two moons old they had to move. A new group of cats had moved into the area and they were looking for fights. It was no longer safe for the kits to be there, as the group had already stolen the kits of another cat. Those kits were older, sure, but Lillium had no desire for her own children to be part of a nasty alley cat group, or worse—dead. They moved closer to a park surrounded by twoleg nests, an area that few cats went due to twolegs walking their dogs there.
They managed to find a safe spot to reside there, in a deep dip under a tree in a forested section of the park. They had many close encounters with dogs, but their twolegs always showed up in time to keep them from getting to the kits. Zinc often lured dogs away when he noticed them coming, though, and eventually he got into a tussle with one when the kits were about four moons old. There were two holes in his tail where the dog bit down on it, but the dog itself got a severe scratch across its nose that left it howling in pain.
Fewer dogs showed up there after that. They assumed the one had begun telling stories to its pals about the crazy cat that clawed it. They were all okay with that. It meant the three kits could grow up in more peace, and they might even be able to wander around more. And wander they did; by the time they were six moons old, they were climbing up the twoleg playground equipment and playing on it at night while the twolegs were at home. Some twolegs still came to the park at night, but just to lay on the benches, for some reason.
By eight moons old the three of them had been taught to hunt. There wasn’t a lot to hunt in the area, but there was enough for them to just barely survive on. Sometimes they ate leftover twoleg food that Zinc would pull out of the garbage bins, but it always tasted so much different than the prey they caught themselves. It wasn’t bad, just… not as good. By this point they were ready to learn the harsh truths of why they had left the alley they once lived in, so Zinc told them the story.
After learning the truth, Hyacinth wanted to learn to fight to protect his sisters. Unfortunately for him, they wanted to learn, too. For the next two moons they all trained hard, and by their tenth moon they were able to tussle with each other with claws sheathed and still be able to beat one another in fights. Hyacinth won most of them, but Chrys didn’t mind. She had never really liked fighting after she had learned, but she knew it was an important skill that she might have to use one day. She hoped that she wouldn’t, though.
Twelve moons after their birth, it was time for them to start thinking about looking for their own places to live. Lillium explained that most kits left their families much sooner, but she had wanted more time with them. They had all grown up into find young cats, with the knowledge they needed to survive in the vast world around them. Besides that, Lillium was pregnant again, and there simply wasn’t enough food in the area to support the new kittens and her first litter. So, with heavy hearts, each cat said goodbye to their mother and father.
For a while they stuck together, traveling through twolegplace. Two moons after they had left the park, Tulip found a lovely twoleg that seemed to dote on her constantly. She had been going there for food and had finally come to tell Chrys and Hyacinth that she had been inside the twoleg nest, and… she liked it. She wanted to be a house cat. Hyacinth didn’t like it, but he wished her well. Chrys nuzzled her sister and told her that everything would be alright, to go and have a wonderful new life with the twoleg.
For a while the two hung around the area, visiting Tulip every so often. Hyacinth was restless though. He was sixteen moons old now and still had no mate. It wasn’t long after his complaining that Chrys ran into a lovely young she-cat that seemed like the perfect match for her brother. She brought the she-cat—Penny—back with her and the two hit it off immediately. The three stuck together for a little bit before Hyacinth and Penny decided to go off and find their own little corner of the world, leaving Chrys alone. She tried to tell herself that she wasn’t lonely, but that was a lie.
Eighteen moons in, Chrys came across an elderly she-cat named Maureen. She had been so isolated the last two moons that she immediately took to talking to this cat, and Maureen seemed to enjoy the company. This was where things really started to take shape for Chrys. She had felt angry that both her siblings got nice places to live and she was still stuck wandering twolegplace, but with Maureen’s help, she learned to soothe that inner rage.
In fact, there were many things that Maureen taught her: how to stop and take a breath; how to pick out traits in other cats that were red flags; how to listen without speaking; how to bring herself back into the present moment; and much, much more. The two got along well and spent twelve long moons together, learning from each other, before Maureen passed. Now Chrys has started back into the world, determined to help anyone she can with the knowledge she now has.
