PERSONALITY;
Cocoa is an outgoing and curious young cat. She loves learning about the world around her, and she's quick to lend a paw to a cat in need. However, she has some socialization problems due to being raised exclusively indoors by twolegs. She has good intentions, but she often comes off as annoying or off-putting to cats when she meets them for the first time. She has learned a lot about cats in the moons she has been interacting with them, but she hasn't quite yet figured out how to make friends with them.
HISTORY;
Cocoa doesn't remember her parents. Her earliest memories are of her housefolk. They bottlefed her, kept her warm, and soothed her cries.
In reality, Cocoa and her sisters were abandoned by their mother. She kitted right as leaf-bare was setting in, and her mate did not stick around to help with hunting. Her milk never came in, and she had to make a harsh choice.
A twoleg child found Cocoa and her sisters mewling by the side of the road. They looked very cold and weak. He convinced his mother to take the kittens home and nurse them back to health.
Her sisters didn't make it, but Cocoa managed to pull through. After she was stable, they decided to keep her, and the little twolegs named her.
Cocoa was happy living with her housefolk. The children had just as much playtime energy as she did, and their parents would scold them if they pulled her tail or grabbed her roughly. She frequently received treats and new toys. With all the excitement, she hardly even noticed that she had never spoken with another cat before.
However, when she was about 5 moons old, the twolegs took in another stray: a rambunctious terrier. They named him Ranger.
The adults kept the new dog separate from Cocoa, in the room where they slept. Cocoa resented no longer having access to the best bed in the home, and she hated the dog stench seeping from underneath the door. She did NOT want to share a home with this mongrel. From the sound of his deafening barks, it seemed like Ranger felt much the same way about Cocoa.
Maybe Cocoa and Ranger would have become friends, given more time. But after a couple weeks, one of the children accidentally let Ranger out of the bedroom while Cocoa was napping in the open.
Ranger's eyes immediately locked onto the little cat, and he zoomed forward, barking at the top of his lungs.
Cocoa jolted awake, and she saw the dog for the first time as he was barreling towards her, teeth bared. She was convinced he would kill her, and she may have been right. Without thinking, she bolted.
The adults scrambled to catch Ranger, but by the time he was restrained, Cocoa was nowhere to be found. She had slipped through a cracked door in the chaos.
Cocoa ran as far as her paws would take her. By the time she had calmed down, she had no idea where she was. Even if she did learn the way home, she had no intention of returning.
She had just been chased out of the only home she had ever known, and she wasn't keen on going back. By bringing that nasty dog into their home, her family had chosen him over her. Cocoa felt betrayed.
Maybe she would be happier out on the streets, meeting friendly cats and chasing birds. The outside world was full of exciting smells, and she had plenty of space to run and hide from anything that scared her.
For the past few moons, she has survived by wandering the twolegplace, looking cute, and meowing for snacks. After her first missed meal, she started teaching herself how to hunt with limited success. She has found a few cat acquaintances, but she always seems to do something "wrong" when trying to make friends. Turns out you can't treat cats the same way you treat a twoleg.
She is discouraged by her loneliness and grumbling belly, but she is determined to find happiness outside of a twoleg nest. She dreams of finding a new cat family, or at least a friend to practice her hunting with. Maybe she will learn how to bond with other cats if she finds the right ones.
Cocoa also wants to learn who her parents were and how she ended up with her housefolk. She hopes that her mom and dad are out there, just waiting for her to find them.
