Time: Day 18 of the Feather Moon, 2020 (September 4, 2020). Late afternoon.
Clementine || Queen || 17 moons
A light breeze blew over the moors, heather swaying gently. A fluffy calico stood out like a beacon among the stalks, but was unbothered as she picked her away across the moor. A fight -- whether it was with another cat or some other predator -- would be just the thing to spice up Clementine's day. It had been disappointingly uneventful so far, despite her decision to venture out from the empty barn where she'd been sheltering the past few nights. The place was crawling with mice and made a good spot for a nap, but was otherwise dreadfully boring.
Suddenly she scented a rabbit, and her whiskers twitched. She hadn't eaten since that morning, and as delicious as the fat mice of the barn were, after three days of nothing but mice she would welcome a change. Clementine dropped into a crouch easily, ears swiveling to try and pinpoint the location of the creature. After a few heartbeats she spotted it, farther away than she expected. She pulled herself quietly along so as not to give her position away. As she came within striking distance, the calico prepared to leap forward, but the wind changed suddenly and blew her scent right towards her prey. The rabbit's head shot up in alarm and it bounded off, faster than she could ever have run after it.
Clementine straightened up with an angry hiss. Her sour temper evaporated, however, when she caught a new scent on the breeze that had shifted. There was another cat nearby. Lost prey forgotten, she followed the scent through the heather, not bothering to keep quiet this time. Before long she spotted another queen, a tortoiseshell, looking very similar to herself. The calico stepped out confidently to greet her, excited to run into another cat for the first time in a while.
"Hi there! I'm Clementine. Do you live around here?"
