Name: Cedar
Desired Name: Cedarstrike
Allegiance: Solitary (future riverclan)
Rank: n/a
Age: 45 moons
Birth Moon: Rain Moon 2017
Sex: tom (he/him)
Appearance: A gorgeous long haired tom. He is covered in gray and lacks any white coloration. His eyes are a brilliant yellow that contrasts harshly against his gray coat. Cedar's muscles are large, but hardly noticeable under the long fur that encompasses his body. He has an average sized tail with even longer fur than what is on his back. The only time his frame is seen is when takes a dip in water or gets rained on; then he looks like an entirely different cat.
Personality:
family man - stoic - protective - reliable - taciturn - aloof - passionate - confident - patient
Few words exit this tom's mouth unless he is with his family. Unlike his mate, Dapple, silence is something that follows him. It works out well for them as she has a much better way with words - to him, she's the brains. He isn't super outgoing with his family, but his words trickle out faster. Through and through Cedar absolutely adores his family; both his sisters and his mate and children. Their lives mean the world to them, his sisters are invaluable to him being the only reminder of where he has come from; the sisters live separate from them but visit often. Being the sole protection of his family, he takes it very seriously.
Cedar acts very aloof around those he has never seen before especially as his age increases. Trust is earned with him and never freely given. Once that trust is earned, there isn't a more reliable cat to lean on. You need something, he's the cat to ask because it will be done. Cedar will tell you he can get something done with confidence if that is questions. He is sure in his abilities, especially as he ages, and challenges anyone who doubts him by succeeding.
History: There was a time where Sofia had been a kittypet. The confines of a two-leg structure was too restricting for her. So she left and traveled as much as she could. Occasionally she would find herself back at the two-leg nests, but never enter them. She was a loner now and there was no changing that mindset, but the comfort that they brought her was something she couldn't hide from. After a few months on her own, she runs into a tom by the name of Quake. He is a gorgeous tom, but very serious in life. Smiling and happiness aren't words he is familiar with, but Sofia enjoys his company nonetheless.
The two end up having a litter of three kits and Quake is automatically drawn to the boy. Cedar was raised to show no emotions at a young age. His sisters were allowed to bloom and blossom the way they wanted. Cedar was being shaped to become a cat who could survive anything. His father would drill into him that feelings weren't something he should communicate to others. A real tom would hold it in and so, wanting to please his father he talked less and less. There were positives to this, he was able to learn how to observe situations easier. Take the time to listen and learn instead of talking over the teacher in front of you.
As Cedar reached his tenth moon, he was granted the opportunity to go out on his own for the first time. It was liberating, laughter heard from him for the first time in moons. He was finally able to escape the harsh criticism of his father much easier now - his mother was more preoccupied with his sisters during this time. He would explore the confines of the two-leg nests for the next few moons. Never going inside any, but scavenging for food at any chance he got. It was his duty to help his father hunt and sometimes it was easier to pinch two-leg food than hunt the mice among the nests - small holes allowing them to escape easier.
It wasn't long before Cedar found trouble among the two-leg nests. A large tom had wanted a scrap of meat Cedar had found. Despite fighting well for it, the tom overpowered him and ran off with the food he had found. He had been licking his one wound on his leg where the tom's claw had nicked his skin. It was then a bouncy she-cat approached him. She began fussing over him, frankly annoying the tom. He had simply wanted to clean himself before moving on. Now he had to deal with this young calico. "Wait here, I'll bring you some food!" Cedar hadn't said a word, watching the she-cat run off after the whirlwind of words. He quickly stood up and instead retreated back towards the area that his family had taken up away from the nests. Cedar didn't want to have to outright reject the help in her face, she didn't appear like she would've taken it well.
Quake is taken out by a large badger that neither tom had smelled. It seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Cedar had little time to react as the creature's claws dug into his father's side. The tom fought off the badger alone as his father laid dying. Cedar remained silent with the tom, placing a nose to his bloodied shoulder as he passed. It seemed inappropriate to say anything in that moment. Cedar carried his father's body back to where his mother and sisters waited. The mourned for days after burying him near a very small creek.
It was up to Cedar to make sure they remained safe now. His fighting skills increased and his muscles came in. It was well known that he was no longer a cat others could simply push over. The tom had grown into something his father would've been proud of. On one of his hunting outings during the outer edges of where he would go, he had crossed a beautiful spotted she-cat. She had seemed sad and Cedar offered her a meal instead of words. An ear for the stories she rambled out of sorrow. About her mother, 'clans', being a warrior. She said her name was Shellspots, warrior name. Cedar introduced himself curtly before letting her continue on with her stories. She was no better mentally than when he had found her, but it was getting late and he knew his mother would worry. So the tom left and with what little words he had, he told her to come find him when she finds this 'StarClan.' Her stories seemed too good to be true. Was his father watching him? He would look up to the night sky often after that.
He would look out for the spotted she-cat on occasion, wondering if she had found what she was looking for. Though the thought of Shellspots quickly left his mind once he ran into the she-cat he had met many moons ago. The cat looked different, more grown up. "You forgot this." A gorgeous voice danced in his ears as a piece of food was dropped in front of him. The calcio she-cat seemed fiery, a passion that he had yet to see in the others that stayed around here. It fascinated him and so began their chapter of love and devotion.
Cedar was gone more frequently, returning to his sisters and mother less and less. Even his sisters had their own lives at this point. Eventually one day, when he did return, his mother was gone. In her bed was a large black crow feather. He knew that this meant she was moving on, but had wished she had been there to say good bye to her. They had not been close and he did resent her some for the way his father was allowed to treat him, but she was still his mother. Dapple was there for this during this time, being the shoulder he needed, saying the words he could not muster.
Eventually the two are ready to cement their love and not only become mates, but begin trying to bring their own children into the world. Two moons later, at the age of thirty-seven moons, Cedar becomes a father to three beautiful kits; Birch, Mist, and Soot. Their births put him into overdrive and he felt more anxious than ever. Despite Dapple's protests, he begins looking for a safer den further away from the two-legs - worried they would try to steal his children like they had to so many other families. As the kits aged closer to six moons, he began teaching them the way of the forest much like his father did without dampening their spirits. He wanted his children to flourish and not be ground down into an emotionless cat. It was only the simple things, nothing that drew them too far away from their mother or the safety of their home.
Two moons later, Cedar is moving his family again, heading closer and closer to where he has heard of a spotted she-cat gathering cats into the old clan. The news of this brings him hope that his children could have an easier childhood and adulthood with cats that would protect them until the very end. So he begins to drag his family towards a prosperous future.
