Name: Dapple
Desired Name: Dapplefoot
Allegiance: Solitary, eventually RiverClan
Rank: Loner
Age: 38 moons
Birth Moon: Thunder Moon 2018
Sex: She-cat, she/hers
Appearance: A sleek, dilute calico she-cat with green eyes. She’s got a more lean build compared to Cedar, and has short, glossy fur. Pink nose and paw pads.
Personality:
Dapple finds comfort in solitude just as much as she does in others. Silence has never bothered her in the past, but neither has entertaining a conversation. Nowadays though silence usually means her kits are up to something so if she doesn't hear them squabbling a bit she gets worried.
Typically when it's just her and her mate, Cedar, Dapple is the one to carry the conversation. She doesn't mind though! She knows he's listening, even if his only contribution is a grunt or grumble. If she asks him to repeat what she just said, he will. Maybe not word for word, but it shows he takes an interest in what she's saying, and that is good enough for her!
Her kits are her life. She didn't know she could love anything as much as she does her kits. The moment they were born and curled up by her stomach, she knew she would die for them if the need arose. Not that she expects to any time soon! She'd like to have at least one more litter when this one is grown so she's got time.
History: Born to a kittypet in the middle of a litter of three. Her father was a loner that held an active role in his kits' lives, once they were old enough to leave the twoleg nest his mate lived in! Despite not looking much like him, Dapple took after Flint the most personality wise.
They could have long talks about nothing at all or sit in silence for the longest time. Dapple wasn't like her siblings who tumbled around in playfights. She had her moments of spark, but mostly that was when she was berating her siblings for their shenanigans.
Eventually she and her littermates were told they'd be going off to their own homes, but Dapple decided she would rather take her chances on the street. She left with her father, who welcomed her warmly.
They continued to visit her family. Cosmo got taken first, then Ella. Then Mia told them her housefolk were packing everything up and then one day, she wasn't there. She was just. Gone. After that, Dapple never saw any of them again.
After that it was just her and her dad. Flint taught her everything there was about living wild. How to hunt fresh prey, how to tell what twoleg rubbish was okay eat, and how to avoid the most dangerous parts of town. Despite his best efforts though, he wasn't quite able to instill in her a caution of other cats.
Meaning that, when she met an injured tom licking his wounded leg, her first thought wasn't how he got hurt, it was that he WAS hurt. She fussed over him and asked if he was hungry before going off to find some food. She'd caught a mouse for him, freshly killed by her own claws, but he was gone when she went back. She'd never even gotten his name.
Life went on, and not always for the better. Dapple earned her first scar fighting off a pair of rats from her meal of rubbish from a some twoleg scraps. And despite the blemish to her otherwise pristine pelt, Dapple was proud of it! It showed that she fought and she won.
Not everything was great though. Her father grew sick, and eventually passed away. Dapple mourned him and buried him beneath his favorite tree in the forest before setting off on her own.
It must have been fate that guided her paws. She ran across the same cat who'd disappeared on her. And she knew it was him. Those eyes and broad shoulders were hard to forget.
Perhaps it was spite that motivated her. Perhaps it was grief. All Dapple knew was, she practically threw the mouse she'd been planning on eating at his paws and said "You forgot this."
She expected that to be the end. For him to walk away. To Dapple's surprise, he did neither. He introduced himself as Cedar, and they struck up an unlikely friendship that soon turned to more.
Dapple didn't meet Cedar's mom before she moved on. Cedar did his best to hide how it effected him, but Dapple knew he was hurting and did her best to be there for him. As for the sisters she barely knew existed, Cedar did his best to avoid letting them meet.
Unbeknownst to him, Dapple ran into them by accident. All it took was meeting them once before agreeing with him. They were a bit. Much.
Soon enough the pair decided it was time for the next step in their relationship. They had a litter of kits, and it was like Dapple fell in love all over again. She vowed to herself she'd never let anything happen to them.
Which was harder to do when Cedar kept moving their den. He insisted on moving away from twolegplace, since twolegs often saw adorable little kits and stole them away from their parents. It was that argument that convinced her, and so they moved. And they moved. And they moved, ever closer to where rumors of a Clan were circulating.
And Dapple found she didn't HATE the idea of joining a Clan. There was safety in numbers, wasn't there? Which meant there was less chance of her kits being hurt or sick and leaving her before their lives had even begun.
