Name: Adderpool
Desired Name: As it is
Allegiance: Loner
Rank: Queen
Age: 26 moons
Birth Moon: Frost Moon 2019
Sex: She-cat
Appearance: Adderpool, past her initial learning stage of walking, won’t often stumble or display signs of clumsiness. Each step she makes is measured, precise, getting her where she needs to go at a steady, unhurried pace. Her frame is quite stout and her thick fur gives the appearance that she is a bit larger than she really is. She's averagely sized, a decent weight and height, with a slight legginess, and she is grace itself with every step or motion taken.
Her pelt is a mirror of her mother’s. The base is a deep black shade, and ginger patches mottle in ever her entirety. The fur itself is short, but thick. Larger ginger patches mark her chest and face; one eye is surrounded by black, the other ginger. Her eyes are green, and her nose is mostly black with small pink flecks along the bridge.
Personality: In a word: steady. Adderpool will display a touch of exuberance in her earliest moons, playing quite roughly with her siblings, but it will vanish as she gets older. She’ll become incredibly aloof, growing more content to amuse herself than in pointless play with the others. She won’t have the drive, the almost frantic desire to learn that her siblings will- she’ll take that as it comes and do as she’s told because that’s how it works, and because starvation isn’t picky about who it takes.
Adderpool is complex. A simple word that hardly comes close to explaining the depths of her personality. She is a cat who gives no more than she wants to give, no matter who may ask or demand- no matter the ease of the task. It could be as simple or strenuous, it doesn’t matter: if she doesn’t want to, she won’t, and no threat of consequences will shift her. Her own wants are what matter most, not those of anyone else.
While she may put on a good show from time to time, Adderpool has a marked inability to display emotion. She has watched and learned enough to be able to show the signs of joy or anger or enthusiasm, but it’s just that: a show. The uplifted tail and pricked ears may not mask the empty look in her eye that indicates her detached state. More than that, she simply doesn’t understand the point of emotion: anger often leads to rash action, joy fills no bellies, and exuberance is pointless. Adder will be quite content sitting and watching, gaining a knowledge of what makes other cats tick. What angers them, or makes them happy, or makes them sad. The interactions between this cat and a stranger, as opposed to this cat and their kin.
She prides herself on her steadiness. On her clear thoughts, never tempted or swayed by the strange bursts of feeling that most cats seem all too happy to rely on. Clarity: that’s what she relies on, in moments of stress or emergency. Only fear, the state of instinctive reaction when faced with a sudden threat, might make her act rashly.
History: Adderpool’s past hasn’t been all that exciting, really. She was born, last among her siblings, and she grew up happy enough with them, her mother and father. They'd met and decided to remain together, Alder taking on his duties of fatherhood to help Foxglove during her pregnancy and then staying to help raise them, once born. They were both raised on stories of the Clans of the past, and the stories were something they passed on: tales of cats who joined together and worked as one to care for the group as a whole, rather than the singular cats of current who hardly seemed to care one way or the other, except in special circumstances.
Adder seemed just like any other kit at birth- not until she was aware enough to really question how things work did her differences come to light. Her more innocent qualities will be replaced with questions that made it clear her mind worked differently than the usual kit’s did. Her mother and father encouraged it, however, accepting her as she was: an individual, special in her own right. She learned hunting, in time- the only skill she felt was necessary really. At the same time, she settled on a new name, choosing one that she felt described her better- only on its own it felt odd, so she decided to add it to the prefix: Adderpool.
She struck out, more or less on her own though she keeps in touch with her family- calling on them now and then or, more likely, stumbling across them while out hunting or walking. She tends to keep to herself for the most part, more because it’s easier that way- but she’s willing to meet new cats. Especially if they can challenge and interest her. Recently, she found such a tom: more like her than anyone she’d met. She’s raising his kits now, but the tom himself has moved on by mutual agreement. She relied on her family to keep her fed in the moon or two when she was at her heaviest, and now that they're born she's happy to share their raising: after all, the more cats to keep them safe and fed, the better.
