Personality
General:
While she may have the name of a small bird, Canary's ability to keep going in the face of opposition is something she feels pride in. Even when her dreams seem impossible she keeps a can-do attitude to try to reach as high as the stars, seemingly brimming with confidence. Her general demeanor seems very chipper, keeping upbeat despite obstacles in life. While she may not have the discipline yet to always see things through, making her rather frustrated at times, she has the innate capability to learn it and get the job done. She is happiest when she is pushing herself towards progress, whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally. Canary is a quick learner and easily becomes bored once she learns how something works, wanting to move on to the next topic. Unfortunately, this can lead to her feeling she's better than others and she'll become defensive if accused of feeling that way, but in the end it's for the best so she doesn't become conceited.

History
Canary was the loudest and boldest of her siblings, and perhaps this boisterousness was what led to where she's at. She lived her first two moons of life with her mother, father, and siblings, wrestling with them and learning the usual things about being a cat--how to clean herself, how to tell if she should knock something off (the answer was always yes), how to climb, the best way to pounce on her siblings... it truly seemed like it would be that way forever.
Things changed when their housefolk separated them from their parents once they turned two moons old. They didn't understand, and one by one they disappeared from each other as well. She and Jay were adopted together, and for quite some time they enjoyed each other's company in the comfy home of their new housefolk. It was around her fifth moon when they suddenly took her from her brother and put her inside the belly of a shiny metal monster, holding her as the monster took her farther and farther away from her brother. She became frantic. Was she too rough with him? Did she do something wrong? What was happening? Canary wiggled out of her housefolk’s arms and began crying out, climbing inside the belly of the monster, trying to find a way out. Her housefolk tried to soothe her with some sort of cooing sounds, but they did nothing to ease her panic. The moment the monster stopped and one of the four maws opened, Canary clambered her way out.
In front of her was a big housefolk nest, which her housefolk was pointing at. Her paws were for a moment frozen to the hard, gravely ground she had leaped out onto, but the sound of a strange howling from the backyard of the nest startled her and send her flying in the other direction, out of the dead-end street and into the bushes beyond. She could hear the housefolk calling after her, but she needed to get away from that sound, whatever it was. By the time she stopped running she had no clue where she was. Trees seemed to grow all around her. It seemed calm enough where she had run to, though, and she was exhausted. Curling up among the roots of a tree, she soon found herself fast asleep.
Suddenly it was night. The stars glittered in the sky and a silver wave floated above, as if it were the tail of a silver cat. Canary blinked and suddenly it was the tail of a silver cat. The cat was translucent, its pelt glittering as if the stars were weaved into its pelt.
“Hello,” it said in a soft, motherly tone. “You look lost, young one.”
“Can you show me how to get back to mom and dad? Or to Jay?”
The cat shook its head. “No; I do not know where these cats you speak of are. But I can help you survive.”
It’s been a moon since the strange, starry cat started showing up in her dreams. She’s still not the best at hunting, only able to catch mice most of the time, and only with about 50% accuracy. Still, it’s better than starving to death. Canary is sure that if she keeps moving, she’ll eventually run into someone who can either point her back to her family or, at the very least, show her how to properly survive.
