Lily || Queen || 7 moons Ever since her first foray into the woods with her siblings, Lily's need for more adventure had been steadily growing. She now visited the forest nearly every day, once her housefolk had gone off to do whatever it was they did for the day. She usually tried to rope at least one of her littermates into going with her, but if she couldn't, well, she wouldn't let that hold her back. She was going to be a great warrior of the forest, after all. She had to get her practice in.
Today was one that she would be going solo, and the little she-cat planned to practice her hunting technique. She'd yet to catch anything, but perhaps today would be the day? Lily wiggled out through the cat flap and leaped onto the fence -- she was getting so much better at that -- before setting off in the direction of the woods. Sometimes she would pass by her mother’s garden on her way there, but most of the time she elected not to. Dahlia wasn’t nearly as strict as her father Noctus, but even she might raise concerns if she knew how often her daughter was venturing away from the safety of her nest.
As she hopped down onto the springy grass, she let the now-familiar scents of the forest wash over her. She half-expected herself to grow bored with it at some point, but so far each time was just as exciting as the last. There was still so much of it left to discover, since she couldn’t go too far from home just yet. One day, she promised herself. One day soon.
Lily padded through the undergrowth, trying to remember what her father had taught her about scenting for prey. The air was almost icy as she tasted it, and she shivered slightly. If only it were greenleaf!
She thought she could scent a squirrel; Noctus occasionally brought them forest prey to try even though their housefolk made sure they never went hungry. She had to admit, the flavour was incredible and if given a choice she would pick fresh-kill any day. She began trying to pinpoint the squirrel’s location, which she was rather abysmal at, and decided on a whim to turn right. The path this way was clearer, instead of the tangle of brambles and ferns to her left.
Lily crouched low to the ground, pulling herself forward quietly as she scanned the forest for prey. Instead of a squirrel however, she saw a fluffy brown pelt a few tail lengths ahead. Another cat! She had never met any forest cats before, aside from her father.
Straightening her legs, she began making her way over to the strange cat to say hello. It didn’t even cross her mind that they might not be friendly; she’d only ever been greeted with happy smiles and chirps from the Twolegplace cats about how big she had gotten.
“Hi!” She called loudly, her voice echoing off the trees. Any prey that had been around were now surely scurrying back to their burrows. “I’m Lily! What’s your name? I’ve never seen you before!”

An irritated twitch of the whiskers was the only indication that They were even listening to the drawling of Their large black step-brother as the tom led the small brown figure through the forest back towards their nesting area; a lecture rattling off his tongue going through one ear and out the other with the smaller figure that followed lazily behind him. Tiny's eyes turned from the ground towards Their brother and shot him a glare so hard They were almost surprised that Thunder hadn't felt the heat of disapproval and disappointment from the tiny figure. Normally, a day out with Thunder would be a wonderful adventure; to find something new to explore and learn from Their older sibling. But, even at a young age Tiny could make out the tension of muscle beneath Their brother's thick pelt to know that Thunder was stressed about something. If the extra control that the other placed on Tiny didn't give it away; Thunder's posture sure did. Why Tiny wasn't aware but the heat in Their ears from the bitter words coming from Thunder made Tiny that much more irritated and uncomfortable. They didn't know what They did wrong; all They did was find a hole in the ground by some rocks that contained some funny smell after something thin and black slithered its way inside the hole. A snake was what Thunder called it. They nearly got themselves bitten by a snake that did not like the thought of having its burrow interrupted. Interruption, that's what Tiny needed. Some sort of distraction! A rustling in the brush a few tail lengths away and the scent that came on the chilly wind made the small figure pause and look over towards its direction just in time to notice a figure moving through the brush. Eyes widening in horror Tiny bolted across and tackled the small feline back into the brush and gave a harsh 'SH' sound hoping to all that was sacred that Thunder hadn't heard her howling. Thunder wasn't too keen on newcomers. He was too tense to make friends and was wary of anyone outside of his family. In the mood he was in Tiny was just thankful Thunder hadn't heard this she-cat. Tiny watched as THunder kept on rattling away and stalking off into the brush. Waiting a good second to make sure the coast was clear before the small brown tabby pulled Themselves off off the she-cat. Sighing They turned Their attention back to the girl and tipped Their chin with a scowl.
"Are you trying to get yourself hurt? If Thunder heard you before I noticed your presence you'd be crow's food!" Tiny sighed shaking Their head before making a face thinking of what it was the other feline had spoken over the sound of Their heart slowing down from the panic attack it had within Their chest from the she-cats appearance.
"Oh, right. Uh, I'd say it's nice to meet you Lily but I can see that you don't belong here...you smell not of this forest, and with anyone with half a mind wouldn't just trot up howling like that in greeting. The forest is a dangerous place for a cat like you." Tiny looked bemused at Lily before relaxing Their face and gave a small smile.
"Sorry, I'm not in the game of saving other's tails very often. I'm Tiny. That was my step-brother Thunder, he isn't too fond of people. Now, what are you doing in these forests? I don't know who you are either and I live in these parts." Tiny squinted at Lily and looked her up and down with a curious look in Their eyes.
Sorry for the late reply! I hope the wait was worth it! XD

Lily || Queen || 7 moons Not two heartbeats had passed since Lily called out her introduction, and she was suddenly bowled over by the mound of brown fluff. She screeched in alarm, flailing her paws wildly. No matter how she thrashed, though, the other cat had her pinned securely, and she glared up into their eyes.
"That's hardly the way to treat a lady," Lily huffed, attempting to groom out the tufts of fur that were surely sticking up everywhere now. "I'm sure I could have handled it myself, thank you very much," she said petulantly.
This other cat -- Tiny, they said they were called -- seemed to realize they were being rude, and Lily decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and accept the apology. "I guess it's alright. Thanks," she mewed, though she still thought she hadn't needed saving. Surely this Thunder wasn't that scary? She'd never met anyone who didn't like her, and she didn't expect to start now.
At Tiny's question, all offense was forgotten and she bounced on her paws. "I'm training to be a warrior! My dad is a forest cat, you might have met him, but I live with my housefolk over that way --" she paused to quickly gesture with her tail in the direction of the Twolegplace, "so that's probably why you haven't seen me! I was practicing my hunting so I can be the best warrior ever but then I saw you so I thought I'd say hi since I've never seen a real forest cat before!" Lily finally finished, slightly out of breath from talking so fast. "You must know lots about living in the forest! Can you teach me?"

[googlefont="Poiret One"] That grumble under the girl's breath would have created a large red tick mark on Tiny's forehead if They were an animated character for sure. They maybe small but Tiny's ears were rather good; he had to attribute his skills for that of what he lacked such as small form and small legs for having good hearing. Their eyes narrowed back at this little she-cat in front of Them and wanted to open Their mouths to tell this girl off but before Tiny could utter a word past Their previous warning of Their step-brother the feline was already chattering Their ears off. Bright glitters of stars due to excitement was glaringly obvious as this Lily figure bounced on her paws in such excitement that she nearly started jumping off of whatever she was near; Tiny could almost see her vibrating with how much excitement was building in her body as her voice broke the air around the two of them making Tiny cringe slightly and peek over her shoulder to make sure Thunder was truly out of hearing shot or else Lily would be in trouble.
"Whoa whoa okay, first off. You don't know me let alone my step-brother. So if a stranger tells ya that someone else is dangerous you'd better heed their warning man!" Tiny gave a huff and a warning glare. This docile little creature in front of Them could be knocked down a peg or two. She'd get herself killed if she went about that mindset roaming these woods. Sure, not all cats that lived here were mean or grumpy like Thunder but it was better to be safe than sorry.
"And secondly, just because your pops is a wild cat like me and my family doesn't make you a warrior. You'll never become a warrior or survive out here with that...bright attitude. It's one thing to have faith and determination but it's another to go blindly into the woods that you don't know anything about with an air head like yours." Tiny gave a small smirk; subconsciously showing that They did not mean insult by Their words. Tiny was someone who had a bright mind but Their attention span didn't last very long as They are always seeking out new things. Maybe this stranger might be new entertainment for Them.
Peering closer at the she-cat Tiny gave a hum of thoughtfulness. They could help this chick out but did They want to? It's not Tiny had anything better to do right now. Rowan and Thunder could only entertain Tiny for so long and the small fluff ball was getting bored being stuck by either of Their brother's sides no matter how much Tiny loved them.
"Alright, listen up Lily. I don't mind showing you around and giving up tips but you have to promise me to be careful and listen to what I say. Until you get used to these woods and how to survive out here you're a sitting duckling. You can follow me; I was just heading back towards my family's den site but we can make a detour and go somewhere else so you don't have to worry about running into my family right now." Tiny shrugged and began walking at a brisk trot the way They had just come from with Thunder moments before.
Assuming the little female was following behind Them Tiny spoke up with a curious tone. "You said your pops a wild cat right? So why are you a kittypet? I don't meet many strangers like you in these forests. I don't know if I ever met your pops, what's his name?" They added looking over Their shoulder with a small thoughtful frown on Their face.
"The size of someone's physical form or the gender they choose to live by does not dictate their worth." ~Tiny Kaeldra I don't know if you'll see this but I don't know what's wrong with the coding; probably the picture so this message maybe cut off the template for some reason.

Lily || Queen || 7 moons Lily's good mood was immediately dampened by Tiny's scolding. An airhead! The nerve of this cat -- who didn't look much older than she did -- was starting to wear on her. Sure, she could be a little excitable and maybe she could admit she'd been talking a little too loud. But that didn't mean they had to get on her case about it! Her mama always told her that her passion was the best part of her personality, how she put her mind to whatever she wanted to do. She was more inclined to believe her mama than some random kitten she met in the woods.
She was about to say just that, when their next words had her jaws clicking shut again. They had apparently reconsidered her request, and while she wasn't the biggest fan of their personality, this was probably the best she was going to get. If she turned around and went home now, she'd have gained nothing from this trip into the forest and wasted her opportunity to learn from a real forest cat! So when the brown fluffball stood up to trot off in the opposite direction, Lily couldn't help herself from following.
They clearly anticipated this, and their next question had Lily smiling again. The story of her mother and father was so romantic, and while she wasn't particularly interested in anything like that for herself, she could appreciate it all the same.
"Oh, I guess that is kinda strange, isn't it? My dad used to travel a lot. But then he met my mama when he was visiting here and they fell in love right away. Soon after that me and my littermates were born, so he decided to stay for good! I have two sisters and a brother, they come with me to the forest sometimes but today they were all busy," she explained, wishing her siblings were here now. She'd have to introduce them to Tiny next time.
"My dad's name is Noctus! We don't look much alike, he's all black. My sister Zinnia looks just like him though! The rest of us look like mama." All this talk of her family made Lily wonder again about this Thunder that Tiny had warned her about, as well as the rest of their family that she apparently wasn't going to meet today. "What's your family like, anyway? Do you all live here together? Would it be bad if they run into us now?" She couldn't stop the flurry of questions. On the one paw, she wanted to meet more forest cats, but... Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to gain her footing in this part of the forest a little more first.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] What an odd little she-cat this was. Tiny couldn't help but wonder what kind of food her mother was feeding her brain. If this girl's parents were stray and kittypet They didn't know how that would work for this girl's raising. Narrowing Their eyes and looked over Their shoulder as the little cream and black molly spoke to tell Them about her family and life. A frown tugged harder at Their mouth and They stopped abruptly to turn to look at Lily like she was crazy.
"Are you trying to tell me your pops was once a loner and than decided to stick around the two-legged creatures because he fell in love?, please tell me your joking! What sensible tom would want to leave this world behind to get pampered by strangers and get fat on dry pebbles?" there was actual digust in Their voice as they spoke. Was her pops crazy? Tiny wouldn't want to think of a life outside of these woods! But, that was coming from a stray. If They were in Lily's paws They would probably think the same way she did. But, Tiny wasn't like her. They lived in these forests all their lives. Any other life seemed just plain mind-blowing; and not exactly in the best way!
At the mention of her name They frowned thoughtfully. They didn't recognize the name but maybe Their pops did; something to ask the older tom when They returned back home. Until then though They had told this Lily character that They'd show her around. Maybe They'll teach her how to hunt? Or maybe They will teach a few fighting moves so that if this girl insisted that she'll like to explore the forest she will be better prepared to defend if she came alone. The question about Their family brought Their attention to the present conversation and the small fluff ball coughed awkwardly. Should They tell her about Their family? Well, They were rude but They wouldn't give too much away; maybe enough to satisfy this girl's curiosity.
"My family consists of five of us. There is me, my ma, my twin brother Rowan but then there is my step dad Cougar and his son who's my older step brother Thunder. That's the large behemoth you saw me walking with. My birth pa...he's not in the picture and Cougar's old mate wasn't in the picture anymore either. He helped my ma, brother, and I out awhile back and one thing led to another and my ma and Cougar fell in love and became mates..." Tiny shrugged Their shoulders and continued walking. "I wouldn't say it would be bad if they ran into us. Cougar's pretty protective and so is Thunder. Ma would be kind just like she always is and Rowan would be curious and probably excited; he doesn't get along with Thunder so having someone around our age would be nice for him. T-that doesn't mean that you WILL meet them. I'm not going to introduce you so don't get any ideas." Tiny's gaze narrowed at Lily before turning back to the area around them. "The size of someone's physical form or the gender they choose to live by does not dictate their worth." ~Tiny Kaeldra, oh trust me it'll be interesting lol.

Lily || Queen || 7 moons Lily lifted her chin indignantly at Tiny’s outburst.
“What’s wrong with being influenced by love? It’s romantic. He doesn’t live with mama’s housefolk anyway, he said he likes his freedom too much for that. But he stays in the woods near all of our gardens so he can see us all the time. I keep trying to get him to teach me how to fight and things like that, but he says I should just stay in my nest where it’s safe.” Lily scoffed at the idea. “How am I supposed to become a great warrior if I do that? Plus it’s so much more interesting out here!”
Lily listened intently as Tiny talked about their family; she tried to picture the big tom they were talking about but hadn’t had a chance to see him before she was flattened to the ground. She thought their mother sounded nice though, and the idea of meeting another forest cat her age was rather exciting. She laughed quietly as Tiny mentioned their brother’s dislike of their older step-brother. Based on what she’d heard about the tom, she and Rowan had that much in common at least.
“So you guys are kind of like your own Clan! A really small one, though,” she amended, remembering the huge groups of cats that lived together in her father’s stories. “Me and my littermates all used to live with mama too, but then when we got older her housefolk found us all new places to live. I can still visit her whenever I want, but it’s not the same. It must be nice to live together with your family in a group like that!”
She didn’t really have any intention of meeting Tiny’s family today, but she couldn’t help teasing a bit. They seemed flustered after implying their brother might like to meet her too.
“Aw, why not? Afraid they’ll ask me to stay and you’ll get stuck with me?” She began sniffing the air, as if she could track them to their den, though in reality she couldn’t smell anything apart from rain and leaf mold. ”I could help you all out, you know. Once I’ve practiced a bit, I’ll be the best hunter and fighter this forest has ever seen!”
Lily spotted a leaf fluttering on the ground a short distance away, and imagined it was a nice, fat mouse. Wiggling her hindquarters, she pounced forward with her paws outstretched. She had misjudged the angle, though, and skidded into an awkward landing in a pile of damp bracken. Well, she had said she needed practice.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] It wasn't that Tiny thought love or falling in love was weird. But to Them is was just another attachment; another type of feeling that They did not understand. They had heard stories upon stories from Their ma about how she and Cougar met and fell in love; heck Tiny and Rowan where there when it happened even if They did not remember it in full detail due to Their young age. Still though, this Lily chick found Their parents meeting romantic. If Tiny had to admit it was not far from her own parents meeting; minus a few details of course. Tiny wondered what kind of father Lily had that he didn't want to take his family from their two legs and live a life with him; to be their protector and provider. But if Tiny thought about it. They had no right to judge. Tiny was just skeptical and maybe a bit of a judge-y little thing. No matter what Tiny seemed to say it did not fully discourage the she-cat and for that Tiny was maybe a little bit impressed. Showed that even if she was a bit naive she still had spunk in her. Still had a passion to learn and Tiny liked that about her. They had a great mind to learn new things and solve problems. Not not They thought Lily as a problem; maybe just wrong time placement. If she'd come any other day Tiny wouldn't have been so hard on her even if she didn't seem to buy Their tough side too much.
Tiny sighed and shook Their little head before looking over at Lily. "A clan hmm? Never thought of it like that but I guess so. I've heard of the clans that once lived around here too but it as awhile back; things have changed since then so." Tiny shrugged and look at the area around them carefully. "This life isn't all that great; it can be really dangerous and kind of boring when there isn't any danger to be fretting over. I don't have many friends around so it's not like I can just go find someone to hang out with to make it exciting." They looked over at her with a bit of a flustered look.
"I-I'm not worried that you'd get stuck around. I'm just worried if you do you won't know how to deal with this life; that's all. Not like I want you to stay or nothing!" They humphed trying to gather their footing again in the conversation. After a small pause Tiny grudgingly if not a bit shyly spoke up.
"I could...help you...you know, like fight and hunt and stuff. If you wanted. Since your so stubborn to want to be out here." They grumbled. Frankly though, Tiny didn't think Lily as incompetent as They were acting. Tiny really did want a friend. They just didn't know how to come out and say it without sounding...weak and pathetic. All Their loves They only had Their family. It was about time They made a new friend. Lily || Queen || 7 moons “So you think they were real too!” Lily exclaimed, head popping up from her pile of bracken. “My dad says that they’re just stories, and I shouldn’t get my hopes up about being a warrior someday, but I know they’re real. And the Clans will come back! I’m sure of it.” The little she-cat wasn’t sure how she’d accomplish it, but she’d put the Clans back together on her own if she had to. It just sounded so exciting!
She brushed off Tiny’s mention of it being dangerous and boring. How on earth could it be boring our here? There was so much to see and do! And as for dangerous, well... that just meant she had to work extra hard to become the strongest she could, and then no cat could hurt her!
“I could bring my littermates with me next time, and we could all hang out together!” She said, tail quivering in excitement, before she realized Tiny might not want there to be a next time. But then they were mumbling about how they worried about her being safe, how they definitely didn’t want to be friends, and Lily grinned. Sure, and her mother was a flying hedgehog.
She was about to tease them some more when they suddenly piped up again, offering to teach her some hunting and fighting skills. For her safety of course, not because Tiny wanted an excuse to spend some more time with a new friend. Either way, Lily shot up from where she was still laying in the leaf litter and ran over, standing so close they were nearly nose to nose.
“You mean it? You really mean it?” The little she-cat bounced on her toes, eyes sparkling. ”This is gonna be great! When do we start?”

[googlefont="Poiret One"] Tiny hesitated at her exclaimed statement. It wasn't like They didn't believe the clans once existed; honestly, it was an intriguing thought, and hoped one day they'd come back or at least more known about them. The look the young she-cat had in her eyes when the clans were mentioned made Tiny wonder if it was possible to bring the clans back. The enthusiasm she showed for the clans made Tiny a bit grudging against her. They never had a dream of their own; granted, They were still young but learning more and more every day. Tiny just never had a goal for Their life while Lily seemed like she had her's planned all out; at least she had the right idea. Sighing, the tiny fluff ball turned Their gaze from hers a bit uncomfortable with her excitement.
"I'm sure they will come back. With enough cats, the word could spread. I mean, it wasn't that long aga. With the right encouragement and determination, they can come back. At least you have a dream to look forward to." They said but quickly changed the conversation by trying to get her attention back to their conversation.
Lily had so much zest for life; it wasn't a surprise that she'd make friends everywhere she went. Why she would want to live in the wild when she seemed so happy with her family boggled Tiny's mind. But, the feline chose not to mention that part because frankly; They did not want to know her life story, They may not see Lily again if this day went wrong.
A hum vibrated in Tiny's chest as Their eyes scanned Their surroundings. This was a good place as any. They wouldn't run into Tiny's family around this area. Turning back towards the creme-colored molly Tiny sat down and cocked Their head.
"Well, we can start now since you are so excited about it. Maybe if you realize that living out here is not as easy as you thought you'd go home where it's safer and where you belong; but since you are so stubborn I doubt that'll work very much, still couldn't hurt to try. Show me what you got; if you were living out here and needed to go hunt for food I want to see if you can master that part at least. Your pops must have shown you something right?" Tiny offered wondering just how much her father had told Lily.
A part of Tiny worried that Lily wouldn't be able to survive out here but still be so stubborn that she'd refuse to leave the forest. That could be a major problem because she could get herself hurt or worse; killed. When it comes to surviving, one could survive being killed by a predator if you could run but you wouldn't last long without food. If Lily was so determined to want to visit the forest so much then Tiny'd teach her the basics.

Lily || Queen || 7 moons Lily was pleased to hear Tiny agreeing with her sentiment on the Clans. Surely they weren’t the only ones who felt that way? Maybe someone else had even started trying to bring them back already! She hoped that was true, so that she wouldn’t have to wait too long to live her dream of being a warrior -- it felt like she had already waited a lifetime -- but if she had to start building them from scratch herself she had plenty of time on her paws. Now she just needed the skills.
“Of course I have a dream! Every cat does,” she said, rather matter of factly. Wasn’t that true? She wasn’t sure what her family’s dreams were (besides maybe Bluebell, whose dream was likely close to her own), but she was sure they had them. If she had to guess, her mother’s was probably to have kits; she never seemed to want for more than to spend time with Lily and her littermates, and was always so happy when they visited. It was a good dream, Lily thought. After all, she wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for her mother wanting kits. Even so, the little cat knew that her own paws were on a different path. She was about to ask Tiny what their dream was, suddenly curious, when the tabby redirected her attention to her previous request.
“Right now? Yes!” Lily cheered, giving a little bounce on her paws before trying very hard to settle and pay attention to what Tiny was saying. She scoffed a little at their words; it would take more than that to send her running home! At their request, she thought back to the few lessons her father had given her so far and nodded.
“Yeah, he’s showed all of us how to hunt. Just a little though. He still doesn’t want us going into the forest much, so we can’t practice for real,” she huffed, still rather put out by the thought. Then she grew silent, concentrating, as she recalled the proper form for hunting.
She crouched down in place, her eyes fixing on another leaf a short distance away. This would be her prey. She crept forward, imagining she was doing it smoothly and silently just like her father had shown her. In reality, her backside stuck up awkwardly as she inched ahead, and her tail whipped ferociously back and forth in anticipation, scattering leaves about. She kept her ears pricked, waiting to see what Tiny thought of her technique.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] Tiny stared at the fur ball in front of Them with mild amusement as They could practically see the conversation and thoughts that spun on Lily's face as if it was written on her forehead. She was a rather open creature who didn't hide her emotions very well. Tiny couldn't tell if that was a bad thing or if They should admire it. Tiny didn't often meet new cats around so They lacked the ability to tell if something was considered appropriate or not. Still though, the longer They sat with Lily the more at ease They became. They finally thought that perhaps They could gain a friend that wasn't Their brothers. The smile fell though a little when she exclaimed that every cat had a dream and Tiny had to stop the scoff that wanted to puff from Their chests as They shook Their head. "Not me, I don't have time for dreams. Dreamers are procrastinators and I don't roll that way. I like facts and finding new things to discover. Chasing something that I have no physical proof can turn into something good or bad isn't something that I waste my time on. Dreamer's get their dreams crushed far too often. Just be careful; you might waste your time just like everyone else who's dreams never came true." okay so maybe They were a little pessimistic on that subject but it was true in Their eyes. That's what made Them and Lily that much more in differences.
Tiny wasn't going to say more on the subject though; thankfully Lily seemed distracted by Their offer to help train her to consider Their words too seriously and They were thankful for the change. As Tiny sat there poised calmly watching her excitedly get in position They mentally took notes of what was good and bad about her positions as she focused on a leaf several tail lengths away. Tiny's face twisted as They fought laughter that wanted to come from Their maw as They watched her. Taking a deep breath and pressing Their lips together They stood to Their paws and approached. With a lighter tone that couldn't hide the amusement at her mistakes Tiny approached and began speaking. Reaching a paw out They batted at her butt and shoved it down lower and then trapped her wildly waving tail to the ground to stop her from moving. Sighing Tiny shook Their head.
"First off, you look like a fur brain like that. You're butt is too far up in the air to the point that your tail if not all your butt would have been spotted by whatever you're hunting. Also, your tail doesn't need to be moving period or be that high up in the air. Keep it a few inches off the ground; I don't have a tail as you can see so it's never an issue for me but how Thunder explained it 'keep your tail as high off the ground as you're heel of your leg.' That way it doesn't touch the ground or scrape whatever maybe on the ground." Tiny spoke calmly; as They did so it was obvious that They enjoyed telling Lily what to do. Not bossing her around but more teaching which not most people knew about Tiny but They enjoyed teaching and maybe showing off a little.
Tiny did a half crouch until Their belly was a few inches off the ground and looked out of the corner of Their eyes to make sure Lily was paying attention before tipping Their head towards her as if to say 'now you try'. Funny how one so small could be such a good and patient teacher. One thing not a lot of people knew about Tiny; They were always underestimated for their worth just because They were so small but the size of their heart and their brain were always hidden. "Oh, and also you need to stay downwind from the prey you're hunting, hopefully your pops told you that too. But that's generally the idea of it. Keep this position and keep your weight evening on your paws but make sure they are light. Don't drag your feet and take your time. Patience breeds better results than a rushed effort." They said standing back up from Their crouched position.
"You got it? Why don't you try finding something to hunt besides a leaf and see how that position fits your better." Tiny offered as Their mouth parted to scent the air around Them. Lily || Queen || 7 moons Lily’s concentration broke at Tiny’s gloomy outlook on dreamers, and her head popped up from there she was crouched to stare at them in indignation.
“My dreams are definitely coming true!” She mewed hotly, offended that they would lump her in with those brainless cats who dreamed but never actually did anything. “Just you wait, I’ll become the best warrior there’s ever been-- no, I’ll become the best Clan leader ever when I make them real again, and it’s gonna be amazing!” They would be so jealous when her dreams came true. Maybe, if she was feeling nice, she’d let Tiny join her Clan, but right now she wasn’t enjoying the other cat’s company as much as she had hoped.
And now they were tearing apart her hunting crouch! She let her backside fall lower as Tiny batted her with a paw, trying to hold her tail still while she grumbled under her breath. The she-cat watched grudgingly as they demonstrated their own crouch, then nodded to her to try again. Lily frowned, trying to get her limbs to do the same thing theirs did. She lowered herself to the ground, careful not to let her belly fur or her tail brush the leaves on the forest floor.
“Is this better?”
Then they mentioned trying it out on some real prey, and she had to admit that sounded appealing. She lifted her nose to the air and drew in a long breath over her scent glands. Her tail was about to droop in disappointment as all she could smell was leaves and rain, but then the tiniest hint of something delicious and warm swept past.
“I think I can smell a mouse!” Lily hissed, immediately standing to follow the scent. She took care to step quietly, instinctively moving back into her hunting position, and before she knew it she could see the little creature just a few tail-lengths away. She brought herself as close as she dared, watching the mouse nibble on some seed or nut it had found, then hesitated. The pounce was where she always messed up. But if she waited too long, it would get away!
Deciding there was nothing to do but go for it, Lily wiggled her haunches and then leapt through the air, aiming a bit high. She landed a whisker from the mouse, sending it skittering across the roots of a nearby tree in terror. Lily scrambled to catch it, and managed to awkwardly swipe at it with her paw and stun it. She took the chance to dart forward and deliver the killing blow.
“I did it!” She called triumphantly to where Tiny sat, watching. “I caught a mouse!” Then she remembered her previous anger with them and huffed, suddenly turning her face to the side. See? I’m not a procrastinator. I'll make my dream come true.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] Lily had such a temper on her but Tiny figured it was because she had a lot she wanted to prove. She had ambition; that was a good thing for survival. The only thing Tiny didn't like was the fact that she was a bit of a hot head. Did she honestly expect everything to go right and everyone to agree with her dreams and beliefs? Ambition was one thing but it was entirely another thing to be reckless with that ambition. She needed a smarter head on her shoulders and not think so big without thinking 10 steps ahead and with different scenerios for survival if she truly wanted to fulfill her dream. Still though, Tiny could admire that she had strength in her even if it was a little misplaced. Sitting back the small tabby watched her correct her stance as they had instructed her to do but said nothing as their keen eyes examined her posture a moment and gave an absentminded nod of their head in approval. It was better from the beginning. Lily caught on rather quickly. That was good. Maybe she'll be able to learn full training to live in the wild if she had such a big dream to just pop off into the woods as often as she wanted to. Tiny wondered what kind of father she had and why he didn't come around as often or allow her and her siblings beyond the forest. Lily was old enough to start going out on her own and to decide what she wanted wasn't she? She couldn't be any older then themselves although they had to admit....they felt moons older despite age and size due to the fact they had grown up in the forest unlike the dream-headed Lily.
Blinking back to reality they realized that the she-cat had caught a scent upon sniffing the air; the sparkle in her eyes betraying her excitement. Curiously Tiny watched as the little she-cat returned to her hunting crouch and began stalking towards where she had heard the sound of the mouse she'd claimed to have scented. Absently, Tiny scented the air as well as they stood to their paws and followed at a distance as to not disturb Lily and her hunt. A few heartbeats later there was a rustling and scuffle before Lily's head that Tiny had lost sight of popped up with a gleam of excitement she'd exclaimed that she'd caught it. Tiny's brows popped up and they trotted forward closer to look to find that yes, as a matter of factly, the newbie had indeed caught the mouse. But when Tiny looked back at her she seemed to have realized she was supposed to have been mad at them and acted like it was nothing. Tiny couldn't help the genuine smile that graced their face as they shook their head.
"Good job! You caught yourself a mouse for your first fresh kill. Congrats. I'll admit you are a fast learner." they admitted seemingly now more at ease around Lily.
Having dropped the snooty side of themselves Tiny showed a more genuine interest in interacting with the she-cat now that they knew that she wasn't some air headed waste of time for them. She impressed them even if a little by her determination and quick learning skills even if she was a dreamer and a loud mouth. Giving her a crooked smile Tiny's paw came out and poked her on the nose.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Go on and take a bite. You said you never had mouse before right? Go on and try it. After all, you are the one who caught it. Prey always tastes better when you just caught it. Especially, if it's your first ever kill. you earned it after all so go on. Try it!" they prompted tipping their head down to the small brown carcass of the mouse at her paws.
A little under their breath as they looked away towards the trees Tiny added. "Maybe you have a chance of surviving out here after all." granted, Lily needed more training such as how to defend herself and how to catch the trickier prey like birds and rabbits but she showed promise for her first time. Lily || Queen || 7 moons Lily let her chest puff out a little at Tiny’s praise, her annoyance trickling away. They weren’t so bad after all, she supposed. They had helped to coach her into catching this, and she was grateful for that. Her claws itched to try it out again, and see if she could catch something else. Her mother and father would be so impressed!
She was brought out of her reverie by a prodding paw on her nose, and blinked in confusion to see Tiny standing there with an expectant grin. They did have a point... She had never tasted fresh mouse before. The ones her father brought were always a bit cold after he caught them out in the forest. And there was something to be said about her having caught this one all on her own too, instead of simply having it handed to her. That ought to make it taste even better.
The little she-cat crouched in front of her meal, feeling the warmth of it rising up to meet her, and took a small bite.
“Wow!” She exclaimed, talking around the food in her mouth. “It’s even better than the ones dad brings!”
Within moments, the mouse was gone. Lily’s tongue swiped around her jaws, determined to not let any scrap of the delicious meal go to waste. She hadn’t been particularly hungry when she had left home, only hunting for the sake of practice, and now she was almost full to bursting. Her tail flicked lazily as she groomed her forepaws.
“I can’t wait to eat like that every day, when I’m a forest cat too,” she said, daydreaming about bringing loads of prey home for her family. ”The food my housefolk give me is okay I guess, but it’s nothing like that.”
Suddenly, the thought of her housefolk had Lily worrying; would they be home by now? She had spent longer out in the forest than she had planned. They would probably be worried about her. Energy suddenly zipped back to her paws as she leaped up from her sitting position, turning to Tiny once more.
“I’m sorry, I gotta get home, my housefolk are probably worried I’m not in the garden,” she explained in a rush. “Today was fun though! Teach me how to hunt again some time!”
She began making her way in the direction she thought home was, then looked over her shoulder at the other small cat to add one last remark.
“I still want to meet your family too! They can’t be that scary,” she laughed, then bounded off into the forest.

@gala I'm so sorry for the literal months of waiting! The muse was not strong with this one, for some reason. I figured I'd throw in a wrap up post since this took place quite a while ago and if we want we can start another thread with these two in present day :D
