Name: Aurora
Desired Name: TBA
Allegiance: Solidarity (Future ShadowClan)
Rank: Loner
Age: 39 moons
Birth Moon: Prey Moon 2018
Sex: Female
Appearance: Aurora is a long-furred dilute calico tabby with green eyes. Her build is slender from all her time spent wanderings, but she lacks muscle, which makes her more adept to hunting than fighting. There are no noticeable scars on her body.
Personality: Aurora is a pacifist. After seeing her brother murdered (despite her mother’s best intentions), she believes that violence is nonsensical, abhorrent, and foolish. She does not believe that the Clans existed and refuses to acknowledge that anyone could commit such grand-scale acts of brutality to the point of Clan extinction. Seeing her brother die a gruesome, merciless death—that was enough for her.
And yet, there is a part of her that will likely never heal from the loss of her siblings. It is her darker underbelly. It is the side of her that rages and burns and aches and dangerously asks if violence is the only solution. How can she stand by peace in a world rooted in violence, when someone’s survival is wholly dependent on their ability to defend themselves and to kill if they must? Protests of innocence and pleads of forgiveness didn’t save her brother. He died anyway. And Aurora will always remember that.
Clearly, her devotion to pacificism (for the foreseeable future) doesn’t mean Aurora is void of aggression. She has grown into the resilient, spitfire she-cat her mother raised her to be: dedicated to her values, committed to family, and (mostly) assure of herself. She is highly opinionated and sarcastic, which stirs up some arguments between her mother and herself from time to time. But Aurora knows that she wouldn’t be anywhere without her mother. Dawn brings out the best in her daughter: her fondness for daring adventures, mischievous quips, and clever comebacks.
That said, Aurora is cautious and distrustful of others—an understandable byproduct of Twilight’s death and Dawn’s overprotection. She does not like large crowds and struggles to be vulnerable with anyone other than her mother. She’s learned throughout her life that strangers cannot be trusted and those she loves will inevitably be lost, but despite her fears she yearns for something more. She has never known the love of a stranger or had a best friend that wasn’t a part of her family, and she secretly hopes to find others to love her and to love them in return… even with all her reservations.
History: Aurora was born in a small hollow alongside her littermates: her older brother, Twilight, and the runt of the litter, Dusk. She does not remember much of her kithood, only that most of it was spent bickering with Twilight while trying to keep Dusk safe and warm. She spent most of her youth admiring Twilight and worrying about Dusk. Unfortunately, her worries became an awful reality.
Aurora never really had a poignant reaction to her brother’s passing. She was young at the time and with each moon, she feels less and less connected to that moment. What she does remember of Dusk is his giggle—for it is the little moments that inspire her commitment to her family (or at least what is left of it).
The same cannot be said about Twilight. His death broke her heart into a million pieces and her mother’s immediate protectiveness only served to deepen the wounds. It was a constant reminder that her brother was gone, that he had left this world without any mercy or grace. To this day, his death triggers panic attacks and some nightmares, but she calls upon her mother to keep her grounded when Aurora struggles to stay calm.
Presently, the pair are searching for Aurora’s father—a mysterious figure that she has heard little about. Aurora is conflicted about meeting him, though she doesn’t want to admit it to her mother, knowing full-well that Dawn and Rat loved each other once. But, she would be lying if she said she wasn’t the least bit scared and angry. Life would’ve been so different had her father been there… and yet her mother had left him for reason. Why didn’t he join them? What was so important that he would let his family go? So, this is where she is… frustrated and confused as she searches for a stranger she was never able to love.
