It was hot today. Burning. Scalding.
Prey were hiding away, which brought the lilac tom out of his comfort. Out of his home. The air was sleeping, and it was stuffy to breathe. Unpleasant.
It wasn't a difficult journey to the falls. More so, unenjoyable. The tom's fur was stiff and sweaty, not allowing himself a rest. These days were getting to hot to live out in the open, and so it was time to move to the shade and water for a few days while the intense heat passed.
His spine prickled with concern, even though his eyes were narrowed, a frown marred upon his face. Ghost didn't feel comfortable leaving home for so long, but they needed food.
The water travelled peacefully today as the falling liquid crashed into itself by the bottom of the wide section. White foam was bright under the sun's unforgiving glare. As the feline lapped up the water, a smell invaded his nose. Two scents, actually.
Rabbit. Cat.
The rustle of leaves and quiet pawstapes alerted the traveller, head jolting up from the cool water by the shade. His eyes narrowed, and body tensed, the aggressive instinct ready to take over.
