Name: Chester
Desired Name: TBD
Allegiance: Solitary
Rank: N/A
Age: 45 moons
Birth Moon: Star Moon 2017
Sex: Tom
Appearance: Chester presents as a domestic shorthair with some tabby patterns. A white belly marks his undersides with light green-grey eyes highlighting his facial features. The majority of his coat consists of a brown base with black-stripped markings. He is, in terms of size, no larger than the average feline. In terms of strength, his constant fighting has given him a body of fine muscle. A myriad of scars decorate his form. More often than not, his gaze holds nothing but distrust. Chester carries himself with a tense and unfriendly demeanor. Rarely relaxed or peaceful, he is always ready for a fight.
Personality: A rather disagreeable tom, Chester has no desire to fraternize with anyone whether they be young, old, male or female. He would much rather spend his days on his own than in the company of others. After his past experiences with other felines, he has become distrustful and aggressive. The type to fight first and ask questions later, he won't hesitate to attack if he thinks himself to be in the slightest bit of danger. Sensitive to the actions and emotions of others, he is quick to react to change and unlikely to form friendships. In a desperate situation, he more than ready to abandon others to save his own skin. For Chester, his way is the right way and he is first above all. But if one is able to get past the thorns, a loyal tom with an unwavering nature awaits. He cannot betray those that have helped him and those he calls a friend.
History:
Mother: Name unknown
Father: Name unknown
Full Siblings: Merry | Tom, deceased
He was first and foremost in his life always. Every action was only ever meant to benefit himself. All others were but extraneous matters. That was how it was. That was how it should have been. But not everything could occur as the tom desired.
Born in the dead of winter, Chester and his brother barely got to know their parents before they were both gone. To say his father was rarely around would be a compliment. The tom was never around. His deadbeat father appeared once a moon if he was lucky. If he wasn't, there wouldn't even be the traces of a ghost. His mother worked to care for the two of them on her own. Though she too was not the best parent. If anything, he can at least thank her for keeping them alive. It was only because of her that the pair survived long enough to stand on their own. As for his brother, it was clear from the get-go that they would never see eye to eye. Whereas Chester viewed the world through a cynical lens, his brother looked for the brighter picture. In his brother's eyes, they had been lucky to have been born under the rare Star Moon. It was a sign they had been blessed. It was likely why he ended up being named Merry. Such a title suited the delightful feline. To Chester, it had been nothing more than a curse. They had been given life at a time when death was more likely.
As the twins aged, their mother started disappearing for longer and longer periods. Soon enough, the queen stopped coming back altogether. Merry insisted they wait. Their mother would return. So wait they did, for three sunrises. But Chester would wait no longer. His brother chose to believe in others, but Chester had long abandoned such notions. It was their first feud, and it wouldn't be their last. In the end, Merry could not allow his brother to go it on his own. They were each other's only family after all. So despite the anger and damming words, the two continued to walk together. A choice that would end up costing a life.
It was hit and miss from start to end. The two could agree on nothing. Whereas Merry wished to seek out other cats for assistance, Chester saw no benefit in such actions. They would only be betrayed, abandoned again, or worse. To believe otherwise was fool's play. He thought that point made no clearer by the very first cat they met. The tom welcomed the young toms at first. He gave them shelter and a place to belong. Merry took after him as if she was their absentee father. Chester held him at arm's length. They stayed with him for one moons. It was peaceful, for a time. Merry thought they might forge a new family together. But that fairy tale was soon shattered. The tom turned on them after realizing they could offer him nothing. The two of them were chased out without another glance, all thoughts of family forgotten.
After the harrowing experience, Chester wanted nothing to do with the kit Merry discovered in a tree hollow. "Leave it to its fate," he'd said. But Merry thought otherwise. "It's just a kit," Merry had pleaded. They could barely care for themselves. To add a kit to the mix was folly. It was yet another thing he would not get his way in as Merry brought the young one along despite his arguments. The kit would come to be called Hollow after Merry's insistent pestering of Chester for a name.
In opposition to the melting snow and beginning of new life, the brothers' relationship only worsened. With the kit in their midst, Merry wished to provide for them first. Chester had no desire to do anything for the new life and wished to abandon it whenever things went awry as they often did. Even after Hollow was grown, their arguments persisted. As it stood, their relationship had soured to a point of no return. After many spats, things finally came to a head as the two brothers fought for real. Their many quarrels exploding into an all-out brawl. The battle ended with Merry dead and Chester on his last leg.
The tom thought he would pass right then and there as well, but next he opened his eyes, he was greeted with a new sunrise. Chester had been saved by a passing queen, Stellar. Despite his many protests and prickly nature, Stellar persisted and brought him back to health. He grudgingly accepted her help. In time, he was strong enough to stand on his own again. Ordinarily, he would have left straight away, but the time he had spent with Stellar had mellowed out the fractious tom. He left, but he soon came back, claiming he had a life debt to repay. Though he spends much of time away, he still returns often to see his savior.
Chester has only recently recovered from his injuries and started out on his own again.
