Zinnia couldn’t help but purr and swish her tail in glee. It was nice to see Bluebell happy—and also pretty nice that they won, even if it really didn’t matter to her near as much as getting out and seeing the forest. Or whatever was out beyond these fences. She knew their dad had told them story after story, but until they set foot outside for themselves, they’d never know just how much more amazing it was than they had been told.
She smiled at Lily and Basil in turn as they entered their mother’s garden, about to actually greet them when Bluebell’s enthusiasm perked up stronger than ever. Zinnia couldn’t blame her though. This might very well be the most excitement they had seen since… well, a while.
“I’m ready whenever everyone wants to head out,” she said, getting up and stretching out her legs and spine. Best to prepare to do a lot of walking and running with a good stretch.

Bounding along on Lily's heels, Basil's gaze flicked ahead to where Zinnia and Bluebell were hurtling toward them from the opposite direction, and when Lily picked up the pace he did too, lengthening his stride until it felt like he was flying. They weren't quite quick enough, his other two sisters swarming up the fence and hurling themselves into the grass on the other side just as Basil gathered himself and sprang upward. There he stayed, tail flicking as he panted, mewing a greeting to Zinnia and Bluebell but staying where he was, perched on the fence and high enough to spot any dangers that might come their way. "I'm ready!" he called down, rising to all four paws and turning his head toward the forest. He couldn't help but worry, wary of what might be hiding among the trees that might prove dangerous, but- well, surely with the four of them they'd be okay? "Come on!" He hopped from the fence but went no further, waiting until each of his three sisters joined him before taking a cautious first step, ears up, eyes watchful and nose in constant motion as he used each sense to its fullest on this venture into territory he'd never entered before. Lily || Queen || 5 moons No sooner had they landed in the garden -- or rather, she and her sisters did, since Basil stayed on the fence -- were they all declaring themselves ready to head out. Lily felt the excitement buzzing in the air, even affecting the normally laid-back Zinnia and Basil. She couldn't wait to get out there herself, and bobbed her head once in a nod.
"Yeah! We're all here, so let's go!" She wiggled her haunches as she prepared to leap up to the fence again. A voice coming from the door stopped her though, and she turned to see their mother Dahlia padding delicately across the garden path toward them.
"What are you kits up to?" She purred, fondness in her eyes. "It's been some time since I've seen you four this worked up."
Lily beamed at her as she explained where they were going and all of the amazing things they were going to do. If it had been their father, she might have worried that he would forbid them from going. But while Dahlia did worry about her kits, she didn't put too many restrictions on what they could and couldn't do.
"Just promise me you'll be careful, alright? And stay together!" She mewed in an attempt to be stern, but her voice was too soft for that. "Come back before it gets dark."
"We'll be fine, mama!" Lily rolled her eyes. She turned to her siblings again. "We'd better get going or it'll be dark before we even get to the forest! Come on!" With a mighty jump, she made it to the top of the fence with hardly a wobble that time. She was getting better at this.

Mirroring Lily's movement, Bluebell bundled up her haunches and was just about to leap for the fence when a familiar voice startled her concentration. In fact, the she-cat nearly slipped from the surprise. Luckily, she was able to catch herself and hurriedly scrambled to look at her mother. Dahlia gave the kits a rather soft reminder to be careful, and Bluebell dutifully nodded and chirped, "Yeah, of course! I'll protect everyone." There wasn't even a hint of sarcasm in her tone. The tiny she-cat just knew she would make sure everyone was safe. Just so long as she didn't get distracted by something cooler...
Yet again, Bluebell was mirroring her sister's movements and hopped onto the fence behind Lily. She waited eagerly for her siblings to join, her blue eyes never straying from Zinnia and Basil.

Zinnia’s ears twitched and swiveled at the sound of their mother's voice, her head quickly mirroring the position of her ears. She gave a warm, lazy smile and ran over to Dahlia, rubbing against her like she had many times before.
“Don’t worry, mama,” she purred. “We’ll be fine.” With that, she whisked herself away, bunching up her haunches beneath the fence and propelling herself up to meet her sisters. The excitement in her paws was palpable, tingling in anticipation the more they realized that this adventure was going to happen. This was it; they were going to go into the forest, see the sights, be just like their dad Noctus!

Lily || Queen || 5 moons With their farewells to their mother taken care of, it truly was time to set out. They didn't have far to go, their mother's garden being right on the edge of the woods, and it seemed to stare back as Lily gazed into the trees from atop the fence. After a moment to collect herself and her thoughts, the little cat leaped to the ground on the other side of the fence and began striding purposefully toward the dense undergrowth.
"Let's go!" She called to her siblings, knowing they wouldn't be far behind. As they padded beneath the tall trees, Lily's heart pounded in her ears; this was where her father lived, where lots of wild cats lived. She had always wanted to be like one of them, and now she finally could!
Once they were a fair distance into the forest, Lily closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. She liked to think that she could smell all the little creatures rustling around in the bushes, seeing them in her mind's eye. Their father had brought them mice and voles from time to time, giving them a taste of the forest, but there were so many scents now she had trouble picking them apart. Where would they even begin?
"Where do you think all the prey would be?" She turned to her siblings curiously. "I want to take something back for mama!"
