Shellspots is a pretty silver spotted tabby, as her name suggests. Her fur is sleek and shiny, always groomed to perfection. Her body and face are rather angular, though not extremely so. She has soft green eyes, and a dark pinkish brown nose.
Personality:
Much of Shellspots’ personality can be summed up in the fact that she wants nothing more than to fulfill her mother’s dream of seeing the Clans returned to reality. This she-cat has a very strong sense of family responsibility, and despite the fact that her mother passed several moons ago, she feels she must achieve this goal and make her ancestors proud. Now that she has kits in the picture, this desire is only amplified, as the protection a Clan would offer them would be unmatched.
Despite growing up alone, Shellspots is a rather social cat, and a flirtatious one at that. She enjoys attention from others, and isn’t afraid to use her looks to get her way. This she-cat can be a bit on the manipulative side, but it’s never meant in a way so as to harm another cat. She simply knows what she wants and tries to find the easiest way of achieving that. If someone else ends up having to deal with the fallout, well... sometimes it can’t be helped.
History:
Shellspots was the sole kit of her mother, a she-cat by the name of Ripple. It was just the two of them for as long as Shellspots can remember, as her father moved on before she was born.
At her birth, Ripple gave her the name Shellkit, in honour of the legends she had heard about the Clans that used to rule the forest. Ripple firmly believed that they were rooted in truth, and that she and her daughter were descendants of those noble cats. She resolved to raise her kit with the values of a warrior, and dreamed that one day she and Shellkit might be part of a true Clan.
Shellkit was given the name Shellpaw as she grew and trained under her mother’s careful eye. She learned to hunt and fight. The little she-cat looked up to the starry sky each night, knowing her ancestors in StarClan were watching her, and she wanted to make them proud.
Once her mother deemed her training complete, Ripple gave her daughter the name Shellspots, in honour of her spotted coat. The two then planned to travel together, in order to find the original home of the Clans and rebuild them from the ground up. However, just a moon into their journey Ripple was struck by a monster on the thunderpath and Shellspots could not save her. The she-cat's world was shattered, and she could not imagine fulfilling her mother's dream on her own. There was so much she still had to learn from Ripple, and now she was gone.
Without realizing, she continued on her journey alone, shrouded in a fog of sadness. She never settled in one place for very long, none of them feeling right to her. Nothing felt as it should without her mother by her side, and Shellspots longed for those days to come back, when she felt as if it was only a matter of time until the two of them were part of a real Clan.
Many moons after her mother passed, Shellspots met a tom named Comet. He offered her a place in his den, and they slowly grew closer. She told him of the tales her mother had taught her, and how she had passed away before she could live her dream of being a warrior. Comet encouraged her to keep trying, to make her mother’s dying wish come true. But how could she do it alone?
Shellspots soon discovered she was carrying Comet’s kits, and hope began to grow in her belly alongside them. Even if she could not be part of a Clan, she could have a family. She could raise her kits as her mother raised her, and pass on the knowledge to the next generation. Maybe one day they could achieve what she could not.
About a moon before her kits were due, Shellspots had a dream. In it, she was sitting by a gently babbling stream and looking on as her mother, whole and well once more, flipped her tail this way and that to entertain the group of kittens watching intently. Shellspots was aware of other cats surrounding them, though she couldn't make any of them out clearly. Suddenly one of the kits turned to look directly her way, squeaked in excitement, and came barrelling toward her. Her mother looked up to meet her gaze and smiled, and Shellspots felt a sense of belonging so strong it nearly knocked her off her paws. In that moment, Shellspots knew that she must finish the journey they had set out on all those moons ago and begin the arduous task of rebuilding the Clans. If not for her own sake, for her mother's. For her kits.
Shellspots woke that morning with renewed determination, but she had new worries now: the kits. Her belly was not so big yet that it would be impossible to travel, but it wouldn’t be easy. If she waited any longer though, her kits would come and she would be forced to wait another several moons while they grew old enough to travel with her before she could begin her task. The thought was unbearable. So she told Comet about her dream, about her duty. She hoped he would come with her, but was unsurprised when he said he was going to be staying behind. As much as he enjoyed her stories and admired her passion, the Clan life would not be for him. This was his home, and he would spend the rest of his moons here. With a heartfelt goodbye, Shellspots set out the next day. She couldn’t waste any time.
As expected, the journey was difficult. Shellspots spent entire days walking, stopping only to hunt if there was prey before continuing on. She couldn’t be sure she was even going the right way, but she had to have faith that StarClan would lead her where she was meant to go. Eventually, she grew too round to keep up the harsh pace and settled on a den nestled in the reeds of a riverbank. Here, she would raise her kits until they were old enough to join her on her mission.
Not long after, she gave birth to two healthy kits, a tom and a she-kit, both with spotted silvery pelts like hers. She named them Heronkit and Minnowkit, and vowed that they would one day be true warriors in the eyes of StarClan.
