So you’ve decided it’s time for your character to become a parent? You’ve come to the right place! Here you can find all the requirements and necessary forms to fill out, and there’ll be tiny paws pattering around before you know it. Here at TCR, we consider litters to be useful for multiple reasons. They are a way to show the bond between two characters, expand on storylines, and supply new characters for members to play! We use a system based on real cat genetics to roll litters, which will also be explained below. If you’d like to navigate to a specific section, feel free to use the links below, or read at your leisure! Requirements for a Litter Of course, there are some requirements that must be met before your characters can bring a new litter of kittens into the world. As long as all the conditions listed here are fulfilled, you’re welcome to fill out an application form and submit it for review! - Both cats in the pairing must be 12 moons or older. If the cat bearing the kittens is younger than 18 moons, complications may occur and litter size will be reduced.
- Both cats must be fertile. (ie. not neutered or spayed)
- Both parents must have a genotype assigned. You can read more about genotypes here.
- Both parents’ players must agree to the litter. If one player does not want the litter, the application is automatically void.
- If the parents are Clan cats, they must be from the same Clan unless the pairing has been approved by Staff prior to the application being submitted.
- Both parents must be played by different members, and cannot be NPCs.
- Cats carrying kittens must be roleplayed during their pregnancy. At least 1 thread should be completed while the cat is pregnant, or all kittens will be stillborn.
- Cats carrying kittens require a 6-moon cool-down period between the end of one pregnancy and the beginning of another.
These conditions may evolve as time goes on and litters are born into the game. If you have any questions about these requirements, feel free to ask a staff member!

Litter Application Process and Form Once all the requirements are met, it’s time to fill out the application form! Create a new thread in the Litters Department board with the form below and fill in any relevant information. The title should follow the format of “Dame’s Name x Sire’s Name”. Name of Dame: Put the name of the cat who will be bearing this litter here, linked to their character sheet. Genotype of Dame: Put the genotype of the cat who will be bearing this litter here. Name of Sire: Put the name of the cat who will be fathering this litter here, linked to their character sheet. Genotype of Sire: Put the genotype of the cat who will be fathering this litter here. Date Pregnancy Begins: Put the date the dame becomes pregnant here. This is used to determine when the litter is due. Can be either Clan date, human date, or both, but they must match. Links to Notable Threads: This is where you’ll link to the threads you feel best show the relationship between the dame and the sire. Note that this relationship does not necessarily have to be romantic, but they do need to get along well enough to have kits together. We ask for a minimum of three and maximum of five threads. Applications should be submitted the same moon that the cat carrying the litter will become pregnant, and the kits will be born after 58-67 days. The length of the pregnancy will be randomly generated and added to the kit thread should the application be approved. Once the thread is posted, be sure to have the player of the other parent post in it stating they agree to the application. Litter applications generally take anywhere from 1-3 days to be checked, but if it’s been more than 72 hours feel free to message a staff member to ask about its status. More info about what happens after the litter is approved can be found in the Adoptions board. If no players are found for the kits, they can be either stillborn or die shortly after birth depending on when the parents want to stop searching (up to 2 moons old). Here's an empty application for convenience: Name of Dame: Put the name of the cat who will be bearing this litter here, linked to their character sheet. Genotype of Dame: Put the genotype of the cat who will be bearing this litter here. Name of Sire: Put the name of the cat who will be fathering this litter here, linked to their character sheet. Genotype of Sire: Put the genotype of the cat who will be fathering this litter here. Date Pregnancy Begins: Links to Notable Threads:

How Litters are Rolled If a litter is approved, the number of kits and their genotypes will be randomly generated based on our system. Here’s a simple breakdown of how it works. First, the dame and sire are selected. This gives us the two genotypes we will be working with. Then, the number of kits in the litter will be generated. There can be anywhere from 1-6 kits in a litter, though the most common is 2-4. Once we know how many kits there will be, genes are randomly selected from the parents to create a full genotype for each kit. A staff member will then take those genotypes and translate how they are expressed in the kit’s appearance, and post the results in the litter request thread! Gestation Length: Randomly generated number of days between 58-67. This is how long the pregnancy will be. Note: If there are complications during the birth, the kittens may be premature/stillborn. Litter Size Probability: 1 kitten: 14% 2 kittens: 20% 3 kittens: 26% 4 kittens: 20% 5 kittens: 13% 6 kittens: 7% In the case of a queen under 18 moons or older than 60 moons, the litter size will be reduced as follows: 1 kitten: 45% 2 kittens: 35% 3 kittens: 20% If the queen is under 18 moons or older than 60 moons, the chance of complications (excessive blood loss during birth, breech kittens, or stillbirth) will increase from 5% to 20%. All other attributes of the kits rely on parent genes, with each kit taking one copy of each gene from each parent. If a cat is born fully white with blue eyes, there is a 50% chance they will be deaf.

Current and Upcoming Litters Here you can see which groups have litters and pregnant queens. If one group has many pregnant queens and young kits (under 3 moons), there is a lower chance that litter applications for that group will be accepted. Solitary: There are currently no litters or pregnant queens in this group. RiverClan: There are currently no litters or pregnant queens in this group.
